School Closure Extended by Governor Polis
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Following the Federal Government’s extension of social distancing guidelines, Governor Polis extended the closure of all Colorado schools through Thursday, April 30th. The action was taken to continue slowing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). For this reason, our school remains closed and our target date to re-open campus is Friday, May 1st.
Your child’s continued learning is important to us, and we thank you for your patience as we have transitioned to e-Learning as quickly as possible. By now, students should be transitioned to e-Learning safely at home using the resources below. Our teachers are also working from home to support and encourage students and parents during this time.
As educators, we miss seeing our students every day and are concerned for their well-being during this confusing time. Most importantly, we care about their safety and therefore support the government orders and recommendations that have been made to slow the spread of this disease in our community. We also salute you, as parents and caretakers, for the extra time, resources, and protection that you are giving your children during this time.

Chromebook Lending Program – we are making school Chromebooks available for families to borrow during closure so that students can engage in e-Learning from home. Quantities are limited; we ask that families apply only when there are not devices already available at home. To request a Chromebook, download the Chromebook Agreement and email back to info@blracademy.org. The school will be in touch with you to arrange pick-up.

Our school does not provide these services and we encourage families to do their own thorough research about contract obligations before making a choice for their home:

Why is the school closed?
Governor Polis ordered a suspension of face-to-face learning at all Colorado schools through Thursday, April 30th. The action was taken to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
When will my student be able to return to school?
Our target date to re-open school is Friday, May 1st in accordance with Governor Polis’s order for all Colorado schools to close through Thursday, April 30th. Please check back for updates.
Will students be able to finish the 2019-20 School Year?
Yes, in accordance with District 49, we have transitioned to e-Learning to continue instruction during this period of school closure. Please use the above Schoology and PowerSchool Parent Portal links to access information and materials for your student.
Will my student need to go to summer school to make up for missed school?
There is a possibility that a few students may be invited to summer instruction or online coursework in order to ensure promotion to the next grade level for Fall 2020. If this is the case for your student, the school will contact you with more information and available options.
When will the 2020-21 School Year begin?
No changes have been confirmed at this time for the 20-21 School Year Calendar. Please stay updated by completing your re-enrollment with the school which ensures that you will receive all parent notifications as we approach the new school year.
Where can I get free breakfast and lunch for my children (even if I didn’t need it before)?
There are a number of locations available to your family to pick up daily breakfasts and lunches for any child age 18 and under. You can find out information about Meal Assistance in the above resources section.
