School Accountability Committee

The SAC is a committee of BLRA and BLPA parents, teachers, and administrators who meet to discuss a range of topics and has defined responsibilities from the State of Colorado to: review school performance and improvement plans, approve BLA’s use of the Mill Levy tax funds, and make recommendations to the School Board for budget priorities.  The SAC meets bi-monthly and is open to all.

School Accountability Committee (SAC) – Charges & Contributions

  • Advise principal on school budget priorities.
  • Provide input on Unified Improvement Plans.
  • Review school progress at least quarterly.
  • Promote transparency through public meetings and hearings.
  • Give advisory feedback on principal development/evaluation.
  • Recruit and represent diverse parent/community voices.
  • Support family engagement in academics and planning.
  • Below are the major highlights from SAC committee actions

Over the past several years, Banning Lewis Academy’s SAC has endorsed the use of Mill Levy Override (MLO) funds in support of our students, staff, and facilities. Approved expenditures include:

  • Teacher Support & Retention – Teacher retention stipends across multiple years, compensation for additional teachers at all grade levels, and bonuses to attract and retain highly qualified educators. (Compensation)
  • Student Programs – Funding for concurrent enrollment to provide college credits and career certifications, and literacy intervention programs such as Read 180. (Program)
  • Safety & Security Enhancements – Investments in campus safety including classroom and field cameras, intercom communication systems, shatter-resistant window tint, radios for staff, updated office security measures, bleacher fencing, and internet filtering GoGuardian.
  • Technology Upgrades – Classroom technology improvements such as projectors, interactive boards (Clever Touches), and other instructional technology tools to enhance student learning. (Technology)
  • Facilities & Infrastructure – Maintenance and improvements such as HVAC replacements and repairs, painting, water heater replacement, fan and motor repairs, furniture, and accessibility upgrades (ramps, concrete, fencing). (Restore & Refurbish)

 

SAC Meetings

SAC meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of every other month at 5:30pm(unless otherwise indicated). Meetings are held in the Banning Lewis Ranch Academy (K-5) library (7094 Cottonwood Tree Drive) or on Zoom. Refer to the meeting’s agenda for location information.
