Welcome to Banning Lewis Academy—Home of the Stallions! Since opening our doors in 2006, Banning Lewis Academy has successfully provided families the choice of a world class education in a safe, secure environment. Our students benefit from the tireless efforts made by our staff to develop a wide range of programming that engages each student. From early dawn to nightfall, our campuses are buzzing with activity such as Archery, Choir, Football, Boy Scouts, and much more.

Our mission is to create a safe, positive environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and a thirst for discovery where students and staff succeed through exceptional programs.

At Banning Lewis Ranch, we serve students in Grades K-5. Highlights include our BRICKS Character Education Program, Celebration of Learning Nights, 5th Grade Capstone Field Trip to Washington DC, and a well-rounded student schedule that includes Spanish, Art, PE, Music & Technology.

At Banning Lewis Prep, we serve students in Grades 6-12. We carefully transition students into Middle School with purposeful social activities and organization such as our Order System, sports through the Central Colorado Athletic League, and numerous clubs and electives. In High School, we offer traditions such as Homecoming, Prom, and Student Senate. We focus on Concurrent Enrollment opportunities, Service Learning Projects, Senior Capstone Projects, and college and career readiness (such as online courses, career & technical business programs, foreign exchange program opportunities and much more. At the High School level, our athletes compete in the Tri-Peaks League and have many additional extracurricular opportunities such as Mock Trial, Jazz & Concert Band, National Honor Society, and more.

Banning Lewis Academy Principals

Mrs. Shannon Molnar, Elementary School Principal

Mrs. Shannon Molnar joined Banning Lewis Academy in 2013 with over 23 years of experiences as a K-8 educator and leader. Prior to joining ACCEL Schools, Mrs. Molnar worked in 5 different states where she taught 1st – 4th grades. Additionally she has served as instructional coach, dean of students, and assistant principal. Mrs. Molnar holds a Bachelor’s degree in human development with an minor in education from Warner Pacific University and a master’s degree in school counseling from University of Phoenix.  In 2017 Mrs. Molnar completed the principal licensure graduate program at University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

Mr. Rick Dahlman, Middle School Principal

Mr. Rick Dahlman joined Banning Lewis Academy in 2017 with over 11 years of experiences as a K-8 educator and leader. Prior to joining ACCEL Schools, Mr. Dahlman worked at two other schools where he worked on refining his expertise in highly effective classroom instruction and whole child development. Mr. Dahlman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with a Secondary Teaching Emphasis from The University of Northern Colorado and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Regis University. His two sons attend Banning Lewis Ranch Academy and he is married to a fellow educator. He loves the BLA family, their partnership with District 49, and looks forward to driving great outcomes for students.

Dr. Albert Wiggins, High School Principal

Dr. Albert Wiggins joined Banning Lewis Academy in 2019 with over 20 years of experiences as a PK-12 educator and leader. He has worked extensively in STEM Education including serving on the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council with the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE). He has additionally served as a collegiate professor and instructor. Prior to joining ACCEL Schools, Dr. Wiggins worked at Child & Youth Services (CYS) for the US Army where he served as Assistant Director for Middle School & Teen programs. Dr. Wiggins holds a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Fort Valley State University, a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction: Instructional Technology and Performance Training Technology from the University of Northern Iowa, and a dual doctorate in Educational Administration & Educational Sociology from Capella University.

Banning Lewis Ranch is a public, charter school. We are authorized by District 49 which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States.
