National Elementary Honor Society

The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) was established in 2008 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). NEHS recognizes students for their outstanding academic achievement, character, and responsibility. Throughout the school year, members demonstrate these qualities through fundraisers, volunteering, and being a model example and leader at BLRA.

Specific volunteering examples: library shelving and kindergarten library help, $ Jeans day promotion & collection, Pop Tabs promotion & collection, selecting important topics and advising classmates (ex: conservation), and hosting different drives (food drive, warm clothing drive, etc.).

Stallion Singers Honor Choir

The Stallion Singers 4th & 5th Grade Honor Choir is a special, year-long program designed to offer young, talented students an opportunity to enhance their musical skills and perform in a select choir. Meeting before school, this choir focuses on developing vocal techniques, harmony, and teamwork while preparing for exciting performances. Students work closely with Mrs. Olivier to explore a variety of musical genres, learn new songs, and experience the joy of singing together as a group. Stallion Singers is a fantastic way for students to deepen their love for music and be part of a supportive, creative community and even have the opportunity to perform alongside middle and high school students from the Preparatory Academy. Auditions take place in mid-late August and rehearsals are every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:15-7:45am.

Karate Club

The Z Ultimate Karate Enrichment Program teaches students the values of respect, discipline and humility through traditional martial arts.  With positive reinforcement, they practice self-control, coordination and balance, all while learning age-appropriate practical self-defense skills.  Students that have attended the class in past semesters learn additional skills, and are often asked to assist new students in learning their material.
A new session starts with each semester, and typically meets weekly on Friday for four months (16 weeks).  The cost is $95 per month, paid monthly or in advance, at your discretion.  BLRA receives 25% of all tuition.  The start date is determined early in each semester, as a minimum number of students are required for each session.  If a student misses a day at the school for any reason – break, illness, etc… classes are offered at our studio to make up for the missed class at the school.  Every student will have the opportunity for a minimum of 16 classes in a typical semester.
At the end of each semester, all students are invited to our studio for a free private lesson with their family to demonstrate what they’ve learned, with the opportunity for new students to test for the rank of Yellow Belt.

Cartooning Club

The kids will learn to draw famous cartoon characters using professional techniques. They will draw characters from Looney Toons, to Pokemon, to famous video game characters, and many more by doing something everyone can do – drawing using basic shapes! They will draw these cartoon characters just by placement of various shapes like circles, squares, and triangles. They will amaze their family and friends with their new drawing skills. Look for our flyers in your student’s backpack to pre-register for upcoming classes.

Kids Chefs

Learn the basics of cooking including mixing, measuring, chopping, recipe following and so much more. This fun and FUNdamental class is a hands-on cooking class meeting right at your school! We are nut-free, but we are not able to accommodate other food restrictions and styles. We welcome all kids who are interested in cooking as it is a cooking class and not an eating class. Look for our flyers in your student’s backpack to pre-register for upcoming classes.

Lego-Mation Club

Grades 1 – 5
Kids will have a great time in our Lego-Mation Class using their imaginations to build cool-looking vehicles.  Once the vehicle is built, kids will bring it to life through stop-motion animation.  Animations will be put onto a DVD that is provided or a USB Flash drive that you provide, and given to the students at the end of the course to share with family and friends.  By the end of the class, the kids will have learned the magic of stop-motion animation and with their new skills, will be able to make their own animated projects. Look for our flyers in your student’s backpack to pre-register for upcoming classes.
